no doubt a few of the designs are original and have their cool moments. Fighters can also use a Dodge Roll technique, which enables them to be temporality immune to an opponent's attack (even against a super move). While is visual design was good, his in-game animation was pretty choppy and mostly kinda shit. Prior to joining the Secret Society, Uranus was an ordinary woman and the girlfriend of Duke B.
Rambert. When she learned that Gaia, one of her co-workers, had hosted the first Toshinden tournament behind the Secret Society's back, she declared him a traitor and marked him for death. lol. Gaia was a solid boss for the Battle Arena Toshinden series. She had many bodyguards, the most notable ones being Chaos, Cupido, Gaia and Uranus.
it was actually pretty fun.
The Toshinden series had humble beginnings, but would soon become well known among fighting game fans for its unique cast of weapon-wielding fighters, unique anime-esk art style, and interesting gameplay mechanics. The blocky in-game character models didn't do much for the designs, but the characters of Toshinden really speak more with their special moves and abilities.
She then send him an invitation to the second tournament in an attempt to lure him out. Moveset-wise, Uranus is pretty cheap with that bow & arrow. Lastly, Toshinden on PS1 didn't have much going on in the presentation department. Ring outs can also occur during gameplay, as characters can fall off the edges of each stage (which usually ends up looking pretty hilarious). In Toshinden 3, he appeared a lot bigger and tougher, so his design improved again. lol. She has been described as being both male and female in the various versions of the game, but due to her gender being given as female in the original, this is generally understood as being her true one. She is the highly psychic leader of a criminal organization known as the Secret Society.
It was a solid launch title for the PS1 classic, and no doubt more than a "decent" console fighting game for the time.
While Toshinden had some obvious quirks and visual imperfections as an early 3D fighting game (especially when compared to some of the ultra-crispy 2D fighting games available at the time), if you gave the game a chance...
Some gamers might not be fans of "ring outs" in general, but I think the ring outs in Toshinden make the game more fun. As one of the new / unlockable characters in Toshinden 2, she wasn't too bad of an addition and had some personality. |
