And what is a “pick me girl?” She is a woman who seeks male approval by putting down other women or distancing herself from traditionally feminine traits.
The message? If fashion history has taught us anything, it’s that trends dictated by women often start as ‘repelling’ before becoming iconic. But why are these so-called ‘repelling’ outfits becoming fashion statements?
The Instagram account @style.analytics recently dropped a data-driven bombshell: an analysis of 806 Reddit comments discussing men’s least favorite women’s fashion trends.
They wear what they like, or more precisely, what no one likes—especially not men.
Call it the summer of man-repellent.
Oversized cargo jorts, bleached eyebrows, chunky plastic hair clips, and mismatched scrunchies—think 1990s homeschooler trying to imitate Saved by the Bell’s Kelly Kapowski or Blossom Russo from Blossom and missing the mark.
But longer shorts are the way to go, like 7 or 9-inch seams. In it, she’s showing off her lacy corset dress and tiara, and the text overlay reads “today a MAN said he didn’t like my outfit which means it must be a really incredibly cute outfit.”
