Hem / Kultur, Media & Underhållning / Best toshinden game

We've covered Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive and, most recently, both Tekken and SoulCalibur. Nothing here is that unusual for a fighting game, but all of the fighters are interesting and have clear motivations. Also, you can customize the list by preferred release year, platform, type, and other filters.

A brand new title from SNK!

A new Samurai Shodown is on the horizon! Its goofy characters and lackluster environments pale compared to those in other Xbox fighters. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Toshinden, but it gets tiresome.

Show it off to your friends.” (8.1 out of 10)

Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (PlayStation)

#1

“I appreciate both Toshindens because they combine the 3D look of Virtua Fighter with the special moves of Street Fighter. Roar is just a shallow button masher, one that's not much fun whether you're playing alone or with friends.

The graphics during play are decent, but really could've been better. Since the PS1 launched with just 11 games, plenty of early adopters gave the fighting game a try, and it had solid sales overall.

Battle Arena Toshinden 2 Improves On the Original in Every Way

Battle Arena Toshinden 2 debuted in arcades, and even though it was released just one year after the original game, its mechanics are much more refined.

The graphics look nice, but often are too flashy – almost overkill. In Bloody Roar 4's case, however, the only truly positive thing I can say is that it lets me beat on other people as a six-foot-tall rabbit, and even that got old after a few minutes. Infected by Bloody Roar Extreme's mediocrity, I now move in lame, predictable ways, and require months of meditation and fasting to regain my power.” (4.3 out of 10)

Battle Arena Toshinden URA (Saturn)

#8

“Another unimpressive version of Toshinden comes to the Saturn.

Sofia's voice is almost as deep as Rungo's! What contributes to the scrub vibe is the roster of characters who all attach with approximately identical speed and priorities.

Electronic Gaming Monthly's Top 11 Bloody Roar & Toshinden Games

Over the last few months, we've spent quite a bit of time counting down the best and worst 3D fighting games.

I know she's a strong fighter, but come on! There's no editorializing here, we're going to focus on what the critics said back when these games first came out.

Even though the game received positive reviews, it had far more competition than the first game did, and while it sold fairly well in Japan, it didn't fare as well in the United States, selling just 133,491 copies on the PS1.

Thankfully, while the game may have underperformed, it still did well enough to get a sequel. Toshinden is cool.

Battle Arena Toshinden 3(1996)

The Toshinden: the timeless battle tournament where only the best are invited, and only the strongest survive. That said, many more fighting games didn't get the kind of fame they deserved, and the Battle Arena Toshiden titles are a great example of that.
