All perfectly logical.
I also enjoyed the comfortable domesticity in the Wilson household, where Wilson and his wife (a serene performance by Joan Plowright) answer at least some of our questions about them; I always knew there was something to define the Wilsons apart from the fact that they lived next to the Mitchells.
Those good qualities are undermined, unfortunately, by the Switchblade Sam character, who is dirty, threatening and scary.
In his frustration, George scolds Dennis harshly, declaring he has no need for him anymore.
Heartbroken, Dennis hops on his bicycle with a wagon in tow and rides off into the night, where he unwittingly crosses paths with Switchblade Sam, who then abducts him with the intent of using him as a hostage. He is driving Mr. Wilson crazy, but he is just trying to be helpful, even to the thief who has arrived in town. When his parents must go out of town on business, Dennis stays with Mr.
and Mrs. Wilson. With a quick press of the “PRINT” button on the photocopier, he dashes away, leaving behind a flustered Andrea as the machine relentlessly flashes its light and churns out page after page depicting her various dismayed expressions.

Dennis the Menace Collection
Dennis the Menace is a 1993 American family comedy film based on the Hank Ketcham comic strip of the same name.
That is not the case with the new feature-length film “Dennis the Menace,” in which the little monster and the actor who plays him (Mason Gamble of Oak Park) are both about 7. The next morning, Dennis triumphantly returns to George with Sam in his wagon, having also recovered the stolen gold coins, leading to an amused but slightly exasperated sheriff taking Sam into custody.
Reconciliation follows as Dennis and George mend their relationship, and the families of Dennis and George find themselves on friendlier terms.
As fate would have it, both of Dennis’s parents are called away for business trips simultaneously, leaving them no choice but to enlist George and his wife, Martha, to take care of Dennis. He is almost always wrong. Dennis the Menace concerns the misadventures of a mischievous child (Mason Gamble) who wreaks havoc on his next door neighbor George Wilson (Walter Matthau), usually hangs out with his friends Joey (Kellen Hathaway) and Margaret Wade (Amy Sakasitz), and is followed everywhere by his dog, Ruff.
(We know that Mr. Wilson has jumped under the covers only seconds earlier, to pretend to be sleeping in the hope that Dennis will go away.) Dennis tries to awaken Mr. Wilson, grows alarmed by his snoring and appearance of great fatigue, decides Mr. Wilson has a headache, tries to give him an aspirin, and finally shoots the aspirin into his mouth with a slingshot.
A direct-to-video sequel called Dennis the Menace Strikes Again was later released in 1998 without the cast from this film. There’s a lot to like in “Dennis the Menace.” But Switchblade Sam prevents me from recommending it.
